So What You’re Saying Is, Ancient Persians Weren’t Really Mutants?
The Supreme Leader of Iran who is responsible for the delineation and supervision of "the general policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran" is not a fan of acknowledging Iran’s rich Persian history.
He doesn’t mind going back to 632AD, but anything in Persian history prior to that is considered to be of no importance since they were all pagans back then and not followers of Allah, the one true God.
Well that seems to be the Iranian position pretty consistently, that is until someone from the West makes a movie with some Persians in it.
It started with Alexander, the film by Oliver Stone where they were upset that Alexander was depicted as a highly organized, charismatic bisexual that defeated the Persians (which he did) and while he was at it destroyed many of their religious text when he burned the city of Persepolis (which he also did).
I am not sure which they thought was worse, the fact that the burned Persepolis to the ground or that a homosexual burned Persepolis to the ground.
Then, instead of ignoring everything about their pre-Islamic history like Iran normally does now all of a sudden they are outraged by how they are being portrayed in a comic book.
If they can ignore their rich history 99% of the time why can’t they do it when someone makes a movie from a comic book adaptation of an historical event?
The Supreme Leader bans most Western films from being shown in the country anyway.
Tehran is actually calling 300, a film based off a comic book adaptation of the Battle of Thermopylae “cultural warfare”.
Oh I’m sorry, you mean to tell me that Xerxes didn’t use mutants and kung fu fighting zombies to spearhead the armies of the ancient Persian Empire during his invasion of Europe?
Well he did in the movie.
Xerxes was also about 7 feet tall in the movie and pretty sissified for a friggin’ giant.
I bet your about to say that wasn’t true either.
Are you going to tell me that movies often sacrifice historical accuracy for entertainment value because 99% of Hollywood films aren’t made to educate but entertain?
Many Iranians are proud that they are descendants of one of the world’s greatest ancient empires, which they should be, but when their ancestors were ruling the known world Persians were Zoroastrians not Muslims.
And to further complicate matters there are still Zoroastrians in the world today, albeit not too many of them.
Iran hasn’t ruled the world since taking on Islam and I am sure they don’t want to plant the idea that since they were much better off at least in terms of political, economic and social influence in the world before they were converted to Islam, maybe Allah liked them better when they prayed to Ahura Mazda.
Unfortunately religious people it’s all about one-upmanship.
Half of people pray to God to give them nice things anyway, and for some, that is even how they determine who is in God’s favor and who isn’t.
Since ancient Persia faired a lot better than current Iran on the world stage, acknowledging that they used to be the shit when they were Zoroastrians might get some people thinking.
And nobody wants that.

Moses was the product of incestuous inbreeding? "And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years." (Exod 6:20)
Why Nefertiti Disappears from Historical record When you think about it, what a terrible trade off that was. You’re born rich as hell, with God like powers to do anything you wish and the catch is that you have to fuck your family to keep the blood line pure.
