Is it just me or does it seem like the only issues conservatives feel are important are whether or not fags can marry, women have access to a safe abortion and whether or not they can build a temple next to the gymnasium?
I don’t know, I think what makes me a liberal is the fact that whether or not homosexuals can marry like I can, women can choose to abort an unwanted pregnancy or I accept Jesus Christ as my lord and savior are not very high on my list of social issues that need to be addressed at the moment.
The founder behind ChristianExodus.org is trying to mobilize a mass exodus of Jesus freaks from all over the US into South Carolina to work towards creating a perfect Christian state, much like the Taliban and the Ayatollah tried to do in the middle east for Islam.
Why this idea of living like this actually appeals to people is beyond me.
Seriously people, do the people in the Koran or in the Bible actually seem like they are having fun and enjoying their lives?
Now when I was 15 years old and I would be watching Spring Break week on MTV, now that looked like fun.
For some reason I didn’t get that same feeling while I was watching Passion of the Christ or the Ten Commandments.
This is particularly disturbing to me when I think that Americans would want to live like that.
We are a Republic. We practice representative democracy here. Which means we vote to elect people to make our decisions for us. Its just far more practical than actual democracy.
Why are Christians so damn excited about going back to a Monarchy? I thought we had moved beyond that. Jesus isn’t a president. He is a king. Which means his kid would be king after him and their kid after that and considering all of the inbreeding that royalty does just to keep it all in the family it's only a matter of time before there is some Ivan the Terrible hemophiliac megalomaniac sitting on the throne and you are going to be begging for a constitution to be written up.
Why recreate the wheel?

So like I was saying, one of the founders of ChristianExodus.org has decided that he wants to mobilize enough Jesus freaks to South Carolina in hopes of having enough support to create a bible based government there based on the Ten Commandments and conservative Christian values.
In other words, he wants his very own place dedicated to banning gays from marrying and teaching Jesus in science.
And if the federal government doesn’t like it, then he is prepared to secede from the United States altogether.
He got the grand idea from another nutcase group, the Libertarian Party, who wanted all of its members to move to New Hampshire to work within the government to reduce the size and scope of government.
Cory Burnell , the leader of this bible-based nation movement was going to join the libertarians in New Hampshire but since he couldn’t agree with the Libertarians on the “drug issue” he decided to just take over a bible thumping state and establish an Ayatollah type government for Christians in South Carolina .
Though Burnell emphasized in an interview with ABCNEWS.com that he only sees secession as a “last resort”, in a posting on the Web site of the South Carolina League of the South he seems more focused on that goal.
"The only Southern nationalist organization I have found with an ETI [estimated time of independence] is the South Carolina League of the South, which, according to state director Robert Hayes, is determined to be free of the union within 20 years," the posting says. "I think we can move this date closer to the present with a managed emigration."
"We're ahead of the curve on this," he said. "There are so many changes occurring in this country so fast, that whereas it seems like an impossibility today, the political landscape we're going to see in five to 10 years is going to make it a possibility. We're not unreasonable nut cases. We're the good guys here."
Estimate Time of Independence?
Independence from what? Progress?
Like most extremist he doesn’t think that the so-called conservatives in government are very conservative at all.
And here I am thinking they are so conservative that it’s nauseating.
That is why he wants his own country. Bush and Cheney are too moderate for his tastes.
In a rare instance of the right actually having facts to back up their crusades, Cory seems to have found a University of North Carolina study of Southerners' attitudes that reported that 10 percent of Southerners still believed the South would be better off as an independent nation, and that support for that view was highest in South Carolina — roughly 20 percent.
1 out of 5 South Carolinians think they would be better off as their own nation.
20%? That’s probably roughly the same percentage of Southerners still bitter or fighting “the war of Northern Aggression”.
I am also willing to bet the house that not one of those 20% of South Carolinians is a Negro; I don’t care how Uncle Tom he is.
Which is also weird, because if you listen to some of them lay out their arguments some will insist that the civil war has nothing to do with slavery and it was all about states rights.
Yeah, a states right to own slaves.
According to an article in a recent issue of Intelligence Report, the Southern Poverty Law Center's journal on hate groups, there are higher concentrations of "antigovernment extremists" in parts of South Carolina than anywhere else in the United States , other than parts of the Ozarks and northern Idaho where they literally grow on trees.
Cory insists his organization has no position on race. Like that is supposed to be comforting.
How about actually taking a position that all men are created equal? Or would doing something like that actually alienate some of your allies like the South Carolina League of the South?
At least have a position that you will at least give the darkies 24 hours to get out of dodge before you start stringing them up if you ever seceded from the union?
