Boy, 13, dies after running from bear

Make no mistake about it, you can be frightened to death.
It’s not just a cliché.
You can be scared to death.
That might not be a cliché but you know what is a cliché?
What is a cliché is thinking that you can take an urban inner city kid and just toss him in the woods or out on the farm and expect it to end up being a life affirming experience for him.
Like 13 years of urban life can just be wiped away by milking a cow.
Can 13 years milking cows, watching rasslin’ and spitting chew be wiped away by spending 2 life affirming weeks in downtown Detroit ?
I have never liked those programs that take inner city kids and take them out into nature or into rural America to show them how the other half live.
Don’t do me any favors. My family had pigs and chickens in South Carolina . I’ll take asphalt and commercialization over needing to keep a shot gun on the porch to shoot snakes out of the trees in the front yard.
No I am sure you can be frightened to death.
And although I haven’t seen it happen in person, I am sure it ain’t a pretty sight.
Spending the last moments of life completely without dignity, screaming like a scream queen, soiling your pants, piss running down your shoe and then finally fainting where you stand so the paramedics can find you laying in all of that.
Nice image, huh?
Not the way I would like to go out if I can help it.
A 13-year old kid with no medical problems to speak of apparently fell into respiratory distress and eventually died after seeing a bear while hiking, the Massachusetts Fish and Game Department told the Associated Press.
Apparently Antonio Hansel of Boston , Massachusetts was hiking with his camp counselor when they came across the bear and tried running for their lives.
Apparently the bear didn’t even bother to chase them.
So the sad part is that they ran for nothing.
Now I’ve heard somewhere that you aren’t supposed to run from bears.
They might look fat and out of shape but like everything in the wild it is a lot faster than you are.
There is nothing in the wild that can’t out run you, out swim you or out climb you.
You are weak.
That is why you carry loaded firearms.
Evidently the camp counselor that was with Antonio hadn’t heard of the “don’t run from bears” rule because when the kid broke north he was right along side with him.
Although they ran with every intent that running was the way to save their lives just seeing the bear was too much for the poor kid.
Little Antonio was pronounced dead at a hospital in Plymouth , New Hampshire upon.
The camp he was attending was a camp for low-income families in the Boston area designed to enhance their sense of well-being and their potential.
Once again another liberal idea goes awry.
Its bad enough you take a city kid out into the sticks to show him how terrible a farm smells and how lucky he is not to live where every square inch of the yard is covered in chicken shit.
It’s crossing the line to take a kid from the inner city where a rat is considered “wild life” and take him anywhere near a wild bear.
The closets my kids are ever going to get to nature is a zoo.
