You might laugh at all of the Bush/Hitler analogies that are floating around out there but you've got to admit that for a democratically elected president of the freest society in the world, he does as much dictator type shit as he could possibly get away with and still be the president of a free society.
I doubt there is anyone still breathing that has seen an American president so brazenly abuse our civil liberties as Dubya.
I am not talking about the conspiratorial shit like the "death camps" that he is secretly building all over the place to hide dissidents. I am not talking about unconfirmed reports of secret police that are busy reprogramming electronic voting machines to get ready for the fiasco which could be election 2004.
I am talking about the shit we all know about. Patriot Act part 1 and Patriot Act part 2.
And most recently, I am talking about how it has come out how the secret service basically quarantines "free speech zones" far out of the view of the President when he rolls into town so he can go on blissfully believing that he is adored and loved by the American people who never elected him in neither the popular vote or in Florida, as it is now common knowledge that if the Supreme Court had allowed a recount he would have lost that too.
When Dubya travels around the US he has the secret service go to the city ahead of time and demand that the local authorities create what they call "free speech zones" or "protest zones" where the people that are going to be waving signs and showing their disapproval of his policies are far out of sight of him or of any media covering the event.
Now here is where Americans get polarized.
The Dubya supporters will say, "hey, you still have your freedom of speech they are just telling you were you can have it," while Democrats will simply say, "what a pussy."
I understand the motorcade, blocking off streets and all of that, but setting up a baseball field sized area with chain-link fence a third of a mile from wherever he is going to be, in conjunction with knowing that he won't even speak unless you promise to stand up and applaud him is dictatorial you have to admit.
Well you don't have to admit anything but if your head weren't so far up his ass you'd admit.wait, I know how I could get you to see how pussy this is.
Close your eyes and imagine if Bill Clinton had pulled a trick like this.
Now imagine what you would be saying then.
See, I knew you could do it.
When local law enforcement authorities are setting up these "free speech zones" apparently just moving protestors to that area isn't good enough because the police have also been ordered to remove all of the signs that are critical of the president from the view of the motorcade but anyone with a pro-Bush sign are permitted to stay.
Like I said, I am not saying he is a dictator I am saying he is a pussy and that he is about as close as you are going to get to a dictator.
Which is too close for my tastes and in my opinion his behavior is indefensible to any American that is fair about this.
When Dubya went to Pittsburgh on Labor day a 65-year-old retired steel worker held up a sign that read "The Bush family must surely love the poor, they made so many of us." He was asked to move while other people right next to him holding up signs like, "Bush you're my hero!", "Jesus is with you" were not asked to move to the "designated area". When he refused to move because of the obvious double standard he was arrested for disorderly conduct and his sign was confiscated.
Neel later commented, "As far as I'm concerned, the whole country is a free-speech zone. If the Bush administration has its way, anyone who criticizes them will be out of sight and out of mind."
A Pennsylvania District Judge threw out the disorderly conduct charge against Neel , declaring, "I believe this is America . Whatever happened to 'I don't agree with you, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it'?"
Must've been a liberal.
But the point is the damage was done. Neel was gone on that day. Dubya didn't see it. More importantly the Media didn't see it. Even more importantly than that, the American public didn't see it therefore mission accomplished.
Now as an American you have to ask yourself why is it?
Why is he such a little pussy?
Is it because he has such a violent temper that he can't handle knowing that people exist that disagree with him, like a dictator?
Or is his ego so fragile that he can't handle knowing that people hate his guts, like a dictator?
And this isn't just Pittsburgh ; this is the same thing that happened in St. Louis , and in St. Petersburg , Florida . In Missouri for example the police on orders of the secret service were not even allowing the media to talk to any of the protestors in the "free speech zones" so that what they had to say didn't get on the news.
In Columbia South Carolina, again, a guy named Brett Bursey was arrested for holding a "No War for Oil" sign at Bush's visit and refusing to move to the "free speech zone" while he was standing in the middle of hundreds of people holding signs praising the president that were not asked to move.
During his trial he lawyers requested access to the Secret Service documents his lawyers believe will lay out the official policies on restricting critical speech at presidential visits.
The Bush administration sought to block all access to the documents, but the judge presiding over Bursey's case ruled that the lawyers could have limited access.
Get ready people. This is what I call Shock and Awe.
One thing that Bursey's lawyers learned from looking at what documents they were allowed to view was that in light of 9-11 the department of Homeland Security has warned local law enforcement agencies to "keep an eye out on anyone who "expresses dislike of attitudes and decisions of the U.S. government".
Ain't that a bitch?
Homeland Security Department's recommendation to local police departments is to view critics of the war on terrorism as potential terrorists.
Whoa.
I'm a fucking potential terrorist. That's nice.
I mean what do they think they are doing by arresting grandmothers that are pissed off at Bush, stopping terrorist? Why would we need an office of homeland security if spotting terrorist is as easy as attending an anti-Bush rally and pulling out the guy holding up the hand written sign " The Ayatollah Lives In Me!"
Mike van Winkle, the spokesman for the California Anti-Terrorism Information Center told the Oakland Tribune, "You can make an easy kind of a link that, if you have a protest group protesting a war where the cause that's being fought against is international terrorism, you might have terrorism at that protest. You can almost argue that a protest against that is a terrorist act."
So essentially if I am a terrorist and I know that if I bring my "Fuck you Dubya" sign I am going to be forced to move out to a free speech zone a mile away from him but if I bring a "Bush you are the shit!" sign they'll let me practically help the Secret Service Agents open the door to his limousine which do you think I am going to bring?
So if someone where to really plan on doing Dubya harm which sign do you think they would take, the "fuck you dubs" or the "I hope you kill all the little towel heads" sign?
Van Winkle justified classifying protesters as terrorists: "Terrorism isn't just bombs going off and killing people."
Apparently under Dubya's watch being a terrorist is anyone who is obstinately and zealously attached to an opinion that he does not entertain.
