When you create a monster he eventually turns on you.
Look, I don't make the clichés I just point them out.
Richard Kananen Jr. , was arrested after bragging to his nephew about how he killed his abusive father 15 years earlier.
The way Richard tells the story, he killed his father put his father's corpse in a freezer for five months and then when it was nice and solid buried him under the garage.
Apparently at the time Richard did the world a service because everyone agrees that his father, Richard Kananen Sr., was an asshole.
The fact that no one ever reported him missing in 15 years kinda corroborates that fact, at least in my opinion.
Evidently this was all done with the blessing of his mother Marilyn Kananen who was tired of putting up with his father's crap too.
His mother, who evidently didn't have any problems sleeping in a house with a corpse buried in the backyard kept collecting, and more importantly, cashing the social security checks that were coming to Richard Kananen Sr. who never received them because...well, he was buried under the garage.
When Marilyn Kananen 's father, who she had taken care of for years died in November of 2002 she inherited about $250,000.
Well that is when the trouble came knocking on her door and trouble had a name, it was good ol' Richard.
Richard who had a history of "disappearing" for long periods of time resurfaced all of a sudden after his grandfather's death.
I'm thinking it had something to do with the $250,000 inheritance but what do I know?
And on top of Richard 's ugly ass coincidentally showing back up at your front door as soon as you fall into a little money you have to be a little more than "concerned" because you know what he is capable of.
Don't be fooled because Richard had the bolts removed off the sides of his neck.
There are two things in this world that once you start you never stop, smoking crack and having sex.
Well for people like Richard there is a third.
Richard didn't move back in with his mother, when he resurfaced instead he moved in with his younger sister Stacey near where his mother lived.
Marilyn Kananen often complained to her co-workers at Sanford 's Delta Connection Academy where she worked that it "creeped her out" that Richard and her daughter Stacey Bracken live so close to her because they seem to be "watching her".
Well then shortly after, mom disappeared.
She had a reason to be creeped out.
Everyone notices that Richard appeared to be completely unconcerned when co-workers told his sister Cheryl that her mother was missing.
Richard explained his lack of concern on his assumption that his mother had simply "gone into hiding" because the IRS wanted her for all of those years she had been collecting "Dad's Social Security checks".
She apparently owed the government $100,000 for her husband's checks.
While Cheryl was totally consumed with worry over her mother's disappearance, Richard and Stacey went to his mother's house and had a yard sell on the front lawn, pawning off all of his mother's shit.
Apparently the catch of the impromptu sale were her prize collection of Disney figurines.
Once all his mother's shit was gone Richard moved into his mother's house and shortly after started bragging to neighbors about how he could access her accounts by just dropping the Jr. off his name because his father's name, who was still buried under the garage and never reported missing, was still on all of the accounts.
"Why in God's name would he be talking about looking in bank accounts and fooling the bank when he should be out looking for his mother?" a neighbor told the Orlando Sentinel.
It's simple, because Richard knew where his mother was.
This takes us back to the night he bragged to his own nephew, the son of the distraught sister Cheryl that he off'd his own father 15 years ago and buried him under the garage.
The nephew told his mother, who told police, who then interviewed Richard .
Of course when police questioned him about it he denied it, but he wasn't very convincing about it.
Police still let him go. I mean what were they going to do, tell him that he looks just like the type of person that would kill his parents and book him for murder?
Well, as it turned out that would have been a good idea, but instead, this time the Orlando police department decided to follow the rule of law somewhat and instead placed two officers on the case and told them to watch him.
Richard then left the police station went home and he and his Disney action figuring pawning sister Stacey tried to commit suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning but their plan was foiled by the officers that were on stakeout watching them.
Stacey Kananen, who coincidentally works at Walt Disney World, and was probably instrumental in helping her mother accumulate the collection of Disney figurines that she had, is currently being held in a mental ward in an Orlando hospital for fear that she may hurt herself.
Although she hasn't been charged with a crime yet it's only a matter of time.
Evidently Stacey had something else in common with her brother, a big fucking mouth.
She left a suicide note behind which read " Rick and I knew it was over for us," the note continued. "We had a part in Mother's Leaving."
Richard Kananen Jr. is under guard at the Orange County Jail and reportedly he is suicidal too.
Marilyn Kananen 's body was dug up by detectives shortly after the body of her long-missing, but never reported abusive husband was dug up from underneath the garage floor of her home.
