al gore endorses dean. who died and made al gore relevant?
I have never liked Al Gore.
Who died and made Al Gore relevant? If Bill Clinton is John Lennon , Gore isn't Paul McCartney . Gore is Ringo Starr. Trust me we still could've had the Beatles without him.
The only reason I could think to vote for Al Gore in 2000 was that he wasn't Bush. That was it. How sad is that? I was 18 years old when Clinton first ran for office and started the whole MTV town hall meetings and the saxophone playing Arsenio Hall stuff.
Clinton started the whole "if you hit me I am going to hit back" philosophy of Democratic party politics. For eight short years he fired a shot back at the Republicans for every shot he took.
No more of that "I'm going to take the high road" response to criticism that the spineless Democratic Party had been known for.
If you want to be my president act like you want it. Respond to all challenges quickly and decisively.
How naïve is this? Because of Clinton I was used to actually voting for a candidate that I actually liked as opposed to voting for the lesser of two evils.
Voting for the lesser of two evils just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
It's like going to the dealership and driving off the lot with a car that you don't want, the only reason you are in it is because the other car you could've had you wanted less.
There was seriously not one redeeming quality about Al Gore outside of the fact that he wasn't as conservative as Bush that made me vote for him.
That's because Al Gore is the Ray Benzino of the Democratic Party. Like Ray Benzino, Al Gore lacks the ability to realistically assess their own strengths and shortcomings. For all of the crying he did after having the election stolen from him by the U.S. Supreme court and blaming Clinton's infidelity for the reason that he didn't win the election, Al Gore never acknowledged once that he didn't do something in 2000 that no candidate from either the Republican or Democratic party running for the president had done in recent memory.he didn't even win his own fucking state!
He wins Tennessee and he is president. Fuck Florida . Fuck Tabs. Fuck recounts. Fuck Ralph Nader. He dropped the ball. Gore and Gore alone.
The only reason he won the popular vote was the "well, he is the next best thing to Clinton " residual effect that he was too much of an asshole to cash in on.
Did George Bush Sr. distance himself from Ronald Reagan? Did Truman distance himself from FDR?
Gore ran for president in 2000 and completely distanced himself from the 8 years of Clinton to the praise of the Republican Party but to the chagrin of the overwhelming Americans that voted Clinton into office twice and who polls suggested that if they could, would've voted for him again over Dumbya.
Gore tried to run on his own merit.
What merit?
All you had to do is sell to the American people that you would keep the Clinton train rolling and they would've been putting your name on the mailbox outside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue .
And now in classic Gore style he goes and endorses Howard Dean for president over the guy he picked as his own running mate in 2000.
Lieberman says that his campaign has been flooded with calls of support and donations in the 24 hours since Gore's decision became public.
It has gotten to the point where Gore's dislike of the Clinton and the direction of the Democratic Party under Clinton defines him.
Clinton tried to change the party of intellectual elitist, radical leftwing, big government; we know what's best for you Democrats and tried to make them relevant today.
"What really bothers me is that Al is supporting a candidate who is so fundamentally opposed to the basic transformation that Bill Clinton brought to this party in 1992," moving it to a more middle-of-the-road stance on economic policy and other areas, Lieberman said on NBC's "Today" show. "So, Al Gore has to explain why he's endorsing somebody who I think will take our party and our country backward."
Exactly.
Howard Dean is like the 2003 version of Walter Mondale. Why don't you just give the election to Bush now? The Democratic Party should show their fiscal responsibility and just don't even run against Bush in 2004.
The democratic Party thought that in 1984 America was ready for a woman Vice-President just shows how wack the faction of the party that Gore and Dean represent are.
They might as well see if they can figure how to put Jesse Jackson on the ticket while there at it.
