NRA Fighting To Keep Known Terrorists Off Check List
The NRA is to guns what PETA is to animal rights.
They are so pro-gun they are anti-common sense. It's just like when
PETA was recently trying to equate Chicken Nuggets to Holocaust Jews.
The NRA is trying to equate keeping guns out of the hands of known
terrorists with some radical left-wing anti-gun agenda designed to
turn us into a police state.
Robert Ricker, a former attorney for the NRA and top lobbyist will
testify on behalf of the NAACP in court that gun makers knowingly
sell their products to corrupt gun dealers who knowingly supply guns
to the segment of the population that will use them the most …criminals.
"It has been a common practice of gun
manufacturers and distributors to adopt a 'see-no-evil, hear-no-evil,
speak-no-evil' approach," Ricker said in court papers.
Ricker, made svery good living as an attorney for the NRA in the 1980s
became a whistleblower after a falling out with industry executives
in the late 1990s that insisted on resisting even the smallest of
voluntary gun safety measures.
"There's no question the industry was
shaken by this," said Dennis Henigan, legal director for the
Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. "He was one of their major
mouthpieces for years."
At trial, NAACP lawyers plan to try to bolster Ricker's claims with
records from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms detailing
how the agency enlists gun manufacturers to trace the source of weapons
used in crimes.
The data, the lawyers argue, show the defendants knew which dealers
were disreputable but still sold them weapons.
Do you know what this means? It means that Moses was running an organization
that took a hard line against every single piece of legislation aimed
at keeping guns out of the hands of criminals or people intent on
committing criminal acts was doing it because members of the NRA were
making money to that very element of society that we didn't want those
guns to fall into?

In its literature, the NRA has called, attorney Elisa Barnes, who
will represent the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People a "radical anti-gun lawyer,"
and U.S. District Judge Jack Weinstein an "activist,
anti-gun jurist."
Wow you know you are in trouble when your only come back is name calling.
Now thanks to a report published by CBS News another ugly side of
the NRA is coming to light. While nine out of 10 gun purchases after
9-11 are now subject to instant FBI criminal checks to filter out
convicted felons, fugitives and a whoever else is left after you get
rid of those two groups, the State Department's list of known foreign
terrorists - used by airport security personnel and border patrols
- for whatever reason is not included in the database used by dealers
to check a buyer's eligibility.
However this is where I put PETA and the NRA in the same bucket.
Apparently the NRA is opposed to adding known terrorists to the prohibited
persons list.
What's their reasoning?
The NRA's position is that there are enough checks in place already.
''This is just a continuation of the shameless
tradition of gun-ban politicians embracing tragedy to push their agenda,''
said Andrew Arulanandam, a spokesman for the National Rifle Association.
Obviously there isn't enough checks in place dumb ass.
If Hezbollah can get their hands on a legal heater in this country
there is a problem. I want to know where is the logic behind being
able to send someone to to jail for sending Hezbollah funds to support
their agendas but you can't go to jail for selling them weapons to
support their agendas?
Whether or not gun control advocates have jumped on the 9-11 tragedy
to advance their agenda is moot because Al-Qaeda (maybe you have heard
of them?) has apparently taken notice of the background-check procedure
or lack thereof for gun purchases. According to Sen. Frank Lautenberg,
a training manual for the terror network was found in Afghanistan
in which it's suggested to buy your weapons from the US because "weapons
are cheap and easily available in the U.S."
Well isn't that nice?
A report prepared by the Congressional Research Service says ''As
long as they have evaded detection by law enforcement authorities
and are not identified as prohibited persons, they could purchase
firearms from licensed dealers," It continued, ''They
could also purchase firearms at gun shows from either licensed or
unlicensed persons.''
The CRS report noted that a convicted felon and member of the Lebanon-based
terrorist group Hezbollah was able to purchase firearms at Michigan
gun shows in the months after Sept. 11.
The man was later convicted of conspiring to smuggle those very same
weapons overseas.
The NAACP's lawsuit seeks no monetary reimbursement but rather seeks
to force distributors to restrict sales to dealers who have storefront
outlets, prohibit sales to gun show dealers and limit individual purchasers
to one handgun a month.
Moses is coincidentally stepping down as president of the NRA. He
smelled smoke and figured it must've been a burning Bush.
