Dr. Laura Schlessinger: The Queen of Self Importance

MORALISTIC radio advice maven Dr. Laura Schlessinger apologized yesterday for appearing in X-rated Internet photos - days after denying the photos were of her.
Friends, we're going to have a little talk, said the family values champion as she opened her WABC (770 AM) show yesterday - three days after a judge lifted an injunction on the 23-year-old explicitly nude photos taken by a former lover.
In my 20s, I was my own moral authority, said a contrite Schlessinger. The inadequacy of that way of life is painfully obvious today. I have undergone profound changes over the course of my life, the most important of which is my journey from basic atheist to an observant Jew, Schlessinger continued. My early experiences have taught me how much better it is to live by an objective and absolute standard of right and wrong ... And that is the hard-won wisdom I try to pass along to others as I preach, teach and nag every day on this program.
The photos of Schlessinger, then 28, were taken by former boss Bill Ballance, now 80, who sold the bedroom snapshots for $50,000 . From the NY Post, 11/9/98:
Why is it when these x rated photographs of her first appeared she denied that they were her. Then when it was proven that was her in the x-rated Polaroid's she then suddenly recalled having them taken, in so much detail in fact, she said she was actually the creator of the pictures because she told the photographer how to take them, and therefore as the creator of the images could block them from being published online. When that argument fell right on its face she was just stuck like a stick in shit. In case you don't understand Judeo-Christian ethics and morality that is called lying. What goes around comes around. When you make a living blasting people mercilessly for mistakes that YOU yourself have made, without so much as a hint of sensitivity, you are asking for this kind of stuff as far as I am concerned. Those who seek your advice deserve your sensitivity. Your sensitivity should be your brilliance. At the very least you owe them your understanding.
However, like most self appointed demi-gods who have intoxicated themselves on the stupidity of the masses, you are more concerned about being a moral authority in their eyes. When you are on the air advising some woman on how to correct her whorish behavior by offering them your "moral" opinion, take a deep breath and really help them by using the understanding that you were supposed to have learned from your own life experience. Obviously, when it comes to whoring yourself and extra-martial affairs you have walked a mile maybe more in their shoes. All these pictures show Dr. Laura is that you are human like the rest of us. Apparently that is a horrible thing to be in your eyes. You much better prefer this "God has sent me to be your moral beacon" position you take week in and week out. You can still be human and have very high standards of morality. Being human means you make mistakes, we all do. That is what life is about. Learning from your mistakes. In fact mistakes are often times synonymous with living life. Most of life's lessons are connected to them in one way or another. What does your code of ethics say about being a hypocrite Dr. Laura? If you would just be real with people and to yourself you could avoid things like this. You can keep the more moral than thou bullshit to yourself. If you had learned this when you found God in the first place believe me...we wouldn't have found these pictures.

This is for those of you who are offended by the inclusion of Dr. Laura in this gallery. Please don't be so stupid as to think that if you print this article and send it to her that she will be stupid enough to comment on it. She might be a self-righteous, pompous bitch but stupid, she is not. Since her callers have no clue on what to do in so many areas we just felt maybe this was another one that we could maybe help you out with. Don't send her this article. For one, she would never do anything to promote a site like this, which is what mentioning this site on her show would be doing, especially since it calls her out as a hypocrite so unapologetically. Secondly, the subject matter that I am discussing in this particular piece holds her head underwater so to speak, in the sense that she is dead guilty and admitting that guilt undermines her self-righteous position. She wants the world to forget about this whole ordeal she has nothing to gain by addressing the x rated photos. If any of you caught the 12/22/99 show when a caller said that she loved Dr. Laura's show but was tired of constantly defending her against her co-workers and friends you might have noticed the block of silence that ensued immediately after Dr. Laura asked her what does she defend her about. That is called a tape delay. Dr. Laura's show utilizes a huge tape delay so she can filter out anything that you might say critically about her or bringing up a point that she can't address without getting herself in philosophical deep doo-doo. Wake up people. |
