Article II of the United States Constitution: A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
That statement right there is possibly the scariest sentence in the constitution. Neither side of the gun issue actually wants this taken to the Supreme Court to be interpreted. How many of you never knew the first sentence of the second amendment? Yeah, you hear Charleston Heston and the NRA tossing around the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed part but never the Militia part. That is because it can be interpreted when taking into context the climate in which the constitution was constructed that the second amendment was created to allow states not the individual to arm itself to protect its sovereignty from an aggressive federal government. The only time this issue was ever brought in front of the Supreme Court they ruled that the second amendment did not give you the right to own tanks and shit. They placed limits on how heavily you could arm yourself. That is about as close as either side wants to come to having this bad boy interpreted.
Some how Republicans have successfully made Liberal into a bad word. No one wants to be considered a liberal anymore, and “conservative” has its reservations but for so many it sounds refined and dignified to be a conservative. Well, if they can make liberal into a bad word because of people that voted for weekend prison release programs why can’t we make conservative a bad word using people like this republican Vermont lawmaker who introduced a bill that sought to penalize any adult who chooses not to own a gun, requiring the scofflaw to register with the state and pay a $500 fine for the privilege of being unarmed?
On that note let us venture off to Massachutes where a 42-year-old man at an Internet Consulting firm shot and killed seven people. Heavily armed police wearing bulletproof vests were conducting a room-to-room search of the office complex, and officers coming out of the building described the scene inside as "absolutely horrible."
WHDH-TV reported that two women and a child, all of whom were shot in the head at close range, were among the victims. Michael McDermott, 42, an employee of the firm, was arrested in the lobby of the building and charged with seven counts of murder. McDermott was found in the lobby of the building and had to be subdued by police. McDermott refused to comment on his motivation. No one else was shot besides the seven people who were killed.
A lot of my friends vote republican even though they don’t agree with their social policies strictly on this gun issue. I guess they just like to kill things. I mean they shoot anything. Considering the lack of training they have with those things I am surprised they don’t shoot each other. I think they wound more trees than anything else. I have always believed that the more guns Republicans can get in more peoples hands the stronger their hold in government office. The more guns that are in peoples hands, the less safe they feel, thinking everyone and their mother is armed. I don’t blame them. However, the less safe they feel, the more inclined they are to vote for someone that protects their right to own a gun and the vicious cycle continues.
There is this huge movement for people to carry concealed weapons. I wish every Mexican American, every African American, every minority period would just go down for the pure fuck of it and register to carry a concealed weapon and watch these Republicans just shit themselves. I want a backlog of Washington, Johnson’s, Jackson’s, and Jefferson’s, every guy named Jerome, Lemont, Morris, Leroy, Tyrone, Curtis, Jesus, Pedro, Roberto, and Julio to go register to carry a concealed weapon. Republicans want their guns to protect themselves from a perceived “threat”, they sure as fuck don’t want that perceived threat to be packing legally just like they are. |
