Being born and raised within a culture of violence you come to terms with it. You learn to deal with it, go to great lengths to avoid it, sometimes you even grow to understand it.  Well I found an article I would like to share with you that was all over the news last night that is about a particular instance of violence I will never understand.

What this man did was incredible, so much so it is hard to believe. He actually was being arrested, broke out of his handcuffs, cut his own stomach open on purpose with the edge of the handcuffs, reached into his side pulled out his own intestines and threw them at the police! I want a piss test done on this bastard immediately and whatever they find in his piss I want made illegal. I don't care if it is 1 part Listerine and 99 parts Frank's Red-hot Hot sauce, whatever can make a man do that to himself is wrong.

PONTIAC -- A man desperate not to go to jail, broke his handcuffs and used them as a knife to cut a hole in his stomach. Then, he sprayed his own blood and tried to throw his internal organs at police and rescue workers. "I have been doing this for 26 years, but I have never seen anything like this," Sgt. Matt Norman of the Oakland County Sheriff's Department told The Oakland Press for a story Wednesday. "I have seen people take their own lives in unique ways. But what that guy did was bizarre. Reaching in and then tugging on stuff, and I mean tugging."

Police said they were called Dec. 30 to an Oakland Township apartment, about 35 miles north of Detroit, on a loud-stereo complaint. The man was questioned and then was taken into custody when he said he was wanted on a warrant for drunken driving in Center Line. "Due to the subject being very large in size, two pairs of handcuffs had to be used to secure subject's hands behind his back," Deputy Craig Cejmer later wrote in his report.

After the 36-year-old man was arrested, Cejmer said he began fighting not to go to jail. After he injured himself, an ambulance arrived and it took seven men to hold him on the stretcher, the report said. The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office has issued charges of malicious destruction of property and resisting and obstructing police. The 6-foot-1, 280-pound man, who hasn't been named, is being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $110,000 cash bond. The court has ordered a competency medical exam. Court records show the man cut himself twice before to avoid drunken driving arrests. Previously, he used a plastic spoon and a comb. Prosecutors said Tuesday they will await the competency report before trying to schedule a preliminary examination on the charges.
