| A 9-year-old boy lived in his home for nearly five weeks with his mother dead on the living room floor because he was afraid of being sent to a foster home. Travis Butler apparently survived on frozen pizza and soup, dressing himself, going to class on school days and shopping for groceries after his mother collapsed on Nov. 3 in the Memphis apartment they shared. He was found in the foul smelling home by a family friend on Monday night, a police spokeswoman said. He was turned over to his grandparents who took him to their home in Grenada, Mississippi. Police investigators said the boy's mother, Crystal Wells, 30, had high blood pressure and other health problems and apparently died of natural causes. The whereabouts of the boy's father were not known. The boy told police he kept his mother's death a secret because he feared he would be sent into foster care.
Foster Care? You can’t be serious. Hell, they could put me in prison before I would live in a house with a rotting corpse twitching and shit on the living room floor. I could just see myself sitting on the couch watching television just minding my own business, when my mother’s corpse would have one of those muscle spasms, where it would sit up, fart and slowly lay back down.
I would shit in my pants; scream “Jesus!” die and the police would find me, face down in the carpet, right along side her with my butt pointed straight up in the air and a half empty bowl of wasted ravioli on the carpet. It would not be a pretty sight. |
