Dad Shoots Daughter, 13, in Groin While Teaching her about gun safety
Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that John William Bean will not be charged with shooting his own daughter while trying to show her how to safely use his .38-caliber pistol because the police believe it was accidental”. The detectives have spoken with the doctors at the Grady Memorial Hospital and say that the wound is not expected to be life-threatening.
However, this incident may fuck up his chances of ever teaching anyone else the first principle of gun safety ever again. Don’t point that motherfucker at anyone that you are not intending to kill. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t trust pistols. I don’t give a fuck if that lever says that the safety is on. Now I am not the Unabomber. I do trust some technology, Like for example, I trust my remote control will take me to HBO if I press “5”. And I trust that my car will start if I put gas in it. But the reason I trust those things is because I know that even if I press “5” on my remote control and it takes me to some NASCAR race on TNN I am not going to die from it, or if my car doesn’t start even if I have gas in the tank I am not going to lose feeling in my legs like I will if that safety isn’t on when it says that it is on and you point that gun at me to show me how safe it is.
I feel bad for this dude. If his daughter can’t have kids over this shit, right or wrong, I don’t think Charlton Heston is going to be able to talk this guy into renewing his $35 membership dues. Guns don’t shoot kids, people do? People may shoot kids, but guns with safety levers that don’t work don’t help the situation.
