Shark Attack Victim's Wife Says Lifeguards Wouldn't Help

The wife of a man who lost his leg after a shark attack made an emotional appearance before the media today. Ave Maria Thompson sobbed as she told reporters that lifeguards kept their distance as they watched her husband fight off a fucking bull shark with his bare hands. He fought off the shark screaming for help the whole time. After he beat the shark off he managed to swim to shore with two mangled legs, scrawled his room number in the sand before passing out for lack of blood. The shark tore off most of the soft tissue on the leg, severing nerves and arteries. The shark's teeth came just short of the bone, leaving muscle, skin and fat just hanging from shreds of skin. Her husband Krishna was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami where doctors were forced to amputate his leg above the knee.
"When you scream for help and you're a lifeguard, you're supposed to get in there. You're supposed to try to help," she said. "
One of the first things he said to me when they removed the ventilator was that he was screaming and they wouldn't come. He had to swim to them. I'm so hurt."
Fuck that.
When you are a lifeguard you are supposed to get in there to save someone from drowning. That is about the extent of it. You help someone back to dry land when they have a cramp. That is what you are trained for. When you are in a battle to the death with a bull shark you are on your own. That should go without saying.
The severity of her husbands wounds alone should be all the explanation one should need as to why those lifeguards didn't run out there.
You look absurd lady.
Don't even ask why they didn't go out to save him. For what? To end up just like him? They hire those lifeguards for their CPR score not their Crocodile hunter impersonations. Since when has "must wrestle bull sharks with your bare hands to save a customer at the hotel" been a part of the job description?
Do life guards look armed?

How many lifeguards do you see with.45's in their trunks?
You probably think it was a forest rangers job to wrestle bears off your husband if he got separated from the group during a hike in the woods.
She says that her husband yelled for help, but none came.
Shit lady. I am surprised that you are surprised.
Ave Maria says that her husband gave her a note this morning and seems to be doing better. She asked if there was anything she could bring him -- "A leg," he wrote back.
They say if it hadn't been for the help of a surgeon who just happened to be jogging on the beach when Krishna collapsed on shore, he probably would not have survived. That doctor worked quickly to prevent massive blood loss, grabbing a belt from an onlooker and fashioning a tourniquet. She called him a hero.
Fuck that again.
Noticed he helped your husband out only after your husband collapsed on sore.
I don't think he did anything heroic. Heroic would have been jumping in the water when your husband needed a tag-team partner. He just conveniently showed up.
For the record, the hotel said that their lifeguards did go out to help him. According to the hotel's account, the lifeguards saw blood in the water and the shark fin and used the hand-to-hand wonder twins rescue method to pull him out. Once ashore, the lifeguards applied towels and a tourniquet to stop the bleeding in the mangled leg, the statement said.
Yeah right. That is an obviously lie that the hotel is spinning, lending support to my argument that it isn't in any lifeguards written or unwritten rules of conduct to attack sharks bare handed. Not one lifeguard will lose his job over this.
