About a month ago a woman named Jeanine (her real name they wont disclose) gave birth to Benoit-David at a hospital in France and became the
worlds oldest mother.
She actually broke the law in France by having a child at 62.
They were charging her with going to England to undergo fertility
treatments to help her have a child. Then they discovered that another
womans fertilized embryo had been implanted in her womb at the
Pacific Fertility Center in Los Angeles, so she escaped prosecution
being on the surrogate mother.
Then last week it was discovered that the father of the child was Jeanines own brother Robert. Robert is blind, facially disfigured and partially paralyzed in a wheelchair after he put a shotgun to his face to kill himself in 1992 and failed.
The Benoit-David's genetic sister, Marie-Cecile, was born using the
same technique a week later in California to the American woman who
had donated the embryos.
``I didn't think it would cause any problems,''
she told Le Parisien newspaper. ``I may
be 62 and my brother 52, but we are better able to bring up the children
than a couple of drug addicts with a kid who are living off welfare.
Why judge us and not them?''
Jeanine and Robert, who are both single, the two newborns and their 80-year-old mother are now all living in the same isolated house in the town of Draguignan in southern France.
She said that she did it to continue the family name.
